Dharma Bombs hopes to spread their special brand of Appalachian Dixieland at the junction of street-born folk music and the ridge lines of the South. Between their swift lyrical swing and full horn section, they will be sure to make you “hoot and holler, stomp and clap, and twang and sang” this year at Freefall.
Kicking off the evening will Wild Common, a genre defying New Appalachian band.
Fall concert series brings people together through music – September 1 – October 27
The perfect Saturday afternoon in Charlottesville’s beautiful autumn? It’s the Freefall Music & Art Festival at IX Art Park – 4th annual – presented by WTJU 91.1 FM and the IX Art Park every Saturday from September 1 through October 27!
Each family-friendly event in the Freefall series features FREE outdoor live music, along with art, local brews and food trucks.
“The Freefall series always brings people together through shared music experiences,” said Nathan Moore, WTJU General Manager. “Each Saturday in September and October, it pumps energy into the IX Art Park space in the heart of Charlottesville.”
When it comes to free outdoor music in Charlottesville, Freefall picks up where “Fridays After Five” ends, creating a unique and funky vibe at the IX Art Park, Moore added.
“Four years ago, the founders of IX Art Park invited community members to join in dreaming and brainstorming about how the park could reinvigorate our community,” said Lindsay Terrell, Director of the IX Art Park. “WTJU and the Freefall festival were among the first to be part of this exciting movement.”
“Freefall embodies the vision of IX Art Park by bringing together a cross-section of our community – businesses, performers, artists, educators – to serve as a vibrant cultural magnet and to build community,” she said.
